Si se puede!
Our very own Leticia Hogeda, senior at Austin High School, has been selected
this year as one of KVUE’s Five Kids Who Care. Due to her involvement
in vast community service and helping others, Leticia was nominated by Con
Mi MADRE and we just received the great news that the she is one the winners.
We are very proud of Leticia for all her volunteering efforts. Felicidades,
Leticia!!
10 years of service
Next time you see Sonia B. Castellanos, program director, and Cindy Maciel-Reyes,
administrative associate, please congratulate them for their 10 years of
service with Con Mi MADRE. They both have been a huge asset to the program.
Thank you Sonia and Cindy for your loyalty and dedication over the years!!
Kudos to our Seniors 2009
As Con Mi MADRE staff meets with our seniors at their schools, we are learning
about their admissions into different universities and colleges, their scholarships
awarded, financial aid packages, and prom plans. It is a very exciting time
for this group of students and their families. Con Mi MADRE staff is glowing
with orgullo because all of our seniors’ accomplishments over the years.
Congratulations to all our seniors and their parents!
Thumbs Up to our Interns
Con Mi MADRE is very fortunate to get amazing Master level Social Work students
year after year. This year Kira, Samantha, Stephanie, Nancy, and Lexie have
facilitated numerous groups at the schools and provided individual counseling.
Under the wing of Leonor, our counseling director, they have all done stupendous
work this 2008-2009 school year. The work from our interns is greatly valued
and appreciated by Con Mi MADRE families and staff. Mil gracias, chicas!
A special piece to our Puzzle
Community volunteers commit numerous hours in helping Con Mi MADRE better serve their families. You see them at our conferences, special events, mentoring, making phone calls, etc. Without their assistance, Con Mi MADRE would not be able to implement all their services they provide. Next time you see a volunteer at one of our program events, thank them for their time and effort in making the event a success.
Do you have fond memories of your involvement with Con Mi MADRE
( formerly Hispanic Mother Daughter Program)?
Do you feel you can share something, based on your college or work experiences,
in order to assist our most recent graduates? If so, we would like to invite
you to become an active member of our newly formed Con Mi MADRE Alumni Group.
This group has been formed to foster interaction between program's alumni
and friends and to act as a source of support for all. If interested in
joining, please contact Sonia Castellanos at (512) 475-7537. Hope to hear
from you! |
