Before joining Con Mi MADRE I was...
Director of Membership & Marketing at the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
I joined Con Mi MADRE because...
Always engaged with our Hispanic community, my heart has continually been with helping Latinas obtain a higher education. I come from a family of strong women; we are five sisters, no brothers, in our family and each sister is bold, brave, and fierce. My mother was a single mother, raising five young girls at the age of twenty-eight. I was the first woman in my family to obtain a college education, and upon graduation, I was determined to help future generations obtain their college education. Realizing that our Hispanic youth are not graduating from college once they’re accepted (only 9% graduate), I was determined to focus and make a difference in this area. Helping young women achieve their education goals with at-risk challenges is what I know because it’s my story. I believe that the universe brings you to where you’re supposed to be, and with this opportunity to work with Con Mi Madre and make my children proud of my efforts, the rest of my story is to help make a positive difference for our young Latinas.
3 Fun Facts About Me:
I love to sing and dance, (sang karaoke at a bar in Singapore), randomly crave steamed dumplings from P.F Chang’s, and I love to impersonate my Dad using his favorite words/phrases: ‘indubitably, she was discombobulated, and his favorite: ‘nombre, chaddup.’.
